Andrew Catalan, CFA, MBA

Consultant

Andrew brings more than 35 years of experience across banking, insurance, and investment management, including nearly 26 years with BNY Mellon’s investment subsidiaries. He held senior leadership roles at Standish Mellon Asset Management in Boston and later at Insight Investment in New York, where he served as Head of Investment Grade Credit. In these roles, he managed over $15 billion in fixed income and liability‑driven strategies for institutional clients worldwide. His background spans analyst, research director, and portfolio manager positions, giving him extensive experience across the full spectrum of fixed income with a particular focus on credit.

Andrew holds a B.S. in Finance and an A.S. in Accountancy from Bentley University, a Master of Finance from Boston College, and an MBA from Suffolk University. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)1 charterholder since 1996 and has been an active contributor to the CFA Institute through exam development, curriculum review, and grading.

Originally from New York City, Andrew spent more than three decades in the Boston area before relocating to New York and ultimately retiring from BNY Mellon. He and his wife now live in Annapolis, Maryland, where he enjoys the waters of Chesapeake Bay.
